Aviation Week Publishes Grundman Opinion, “Playing the Long Game: Can Aerospace Avoid US Automakers’ Mistakes?”

In this essay, Steve Grundman considers the lessons aerospace might learn from Detroit about how not to fail from the heights of an industry’s success. He calls out three existential challenges which the captains of industry from Tyson’s Corner to Toulouse should begin to address now and persistently over a generation. “Now is the time,” write Grundman,”for the leaders of our industry to think long, and hard, about the next forty years and consider the kind of reckoning their choices will sow for today’s young engineer upon his or her retirement at mid-century.”
