Grundman moderates panel discussion of Better Buying Power at Wharton Aerospace
At the ninth annual Wharton Aerospace Conference on March 16th in Philadelphia, Steve Grundman moderated a Community of Practice panel appraising the significance of the U.S. Department of Defense’s “Better Buying Power” initiative to improve outcomes in its acquisition management system. Joining Steve for the discussion was Brett Lambert, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy; Stan Soloway, the President and CEO of the Professional Service Council; and Frank Cappuccio, who is the President of Cappuccio & Associates and a former senior executive at Lockheed Martin and other aerospace companies. The theme of panelists’ presentations and the discussion with attendees that followed focused on how to organize an acquisition workforce sufficiently qualified to implement the high expectation for astute decision-making that is called for by the Pentagon’s new manifesto of acquisition reform.
